LIS 3353 - ASSIGNMENT 6
PART 2 – WEB PAGE DESIGN and VALIDATION

Step 1:

Design an HTML page that meets the guidelines:

With the economy in the tank, you decide to help your friends who are unemployed by creating a webpage that has helpful information on finding a job. Here’s what your page needs to include:

  1. A title
  2. Headers to distinguish different headings and sections on the page
  3. 4 images related to employment seeking
  4. A contact email link (to your email)
  5. An image of you
  6. An ordered list of steps to take when getting ready to look for a job
  7. A table with 3 sections:
  • Links to 3 or more resume help sites
  • Links to 3 national career sites
  • Links to 5 local Tallahassee sites
  1. Add one other resource or tool that this site should have.

Write in the LEAST amount of coding possible, an HTML page (save file as jobs.html). Upload that file to your /lis3353/ directory in iSpace. Create a link on your /lis3353/index.html page to your jobs.html page.

Step 2:

Validating your page

Using THE HTML FILE (jobs.html) from above (which should now be on your iSpace site), follow the validation procedures listed below. Put the SUMMARY of the results in a NEW table on your index page. Results (1-6) should appear in a table format:

  1. Using the original code: validate through the W3c website (http://validator.w3.org). You can link to the page, upload the page, or copy the code into the space provided. DO NOT USE A DOCTYPE. Record number of errors.
  2. Repeat step 1 using the “transitional HTML 4.01” DOCTYPE statement. Record number of errors.
  3. Repeat step 1 using the “strict 4.01” DOCTYPE statement. Record number of errors.
  4. Repeat step 1 using the “XHTML 1.0 Transitional ” DOCTYPE statement. Record number of errors.
  5. Repeat step 1 using the “XHTML 1.0 Strict ” DOCTYPE statement. Record number of errors.
  6. Write a summary of your experiences using the different DOCTYPEs. What were the most common errors – why did you get them – what did you learn. The summary should be a minimum of 250 words.

Submit the link to the jobs.html page, the re-edited index.html page, and the hardware analysis post (see Part 1), here:
